Harmonic balancers

Hello all,
I know i've asked about harmonic balancers for the 250 before, but i'm now at a stage where i need to buy one and i am still unsure what to go for.

My engine builder has said i should probably go with a fluid damper, but these cost $375 (Innovators West or Fisher Concepts). The guy at damper doctor says his recon units would be fine and they are a lot cheaper.

I'm building a 250 with Mikes Alu head and a blow through twin turbo set-up running 10-12 psi and max rpm of 5500-6000.

Do you think i would need a performance damper or will a damper doc recon unit be sufficient?

Any advice is greatly apprieciated. :D

Thanks

Just an uneducated guess, but if you're putting all that money in this engine, I would want it to be balanced correctly, Id go ahead an get the fluid damper. Have you checked out Mike's damper's

If you are putting that kind of Poundage into the engine, I would go for the best insurance against catastrophic failure I could find and afford. The $375 for a performance balancer sounds like a reasonable additional cost to round out the other modifications which don't come cheap...]

Here's a previous thread on 250 balancers:

PS - Mach1 Mark : I don't think Classic Inlines has a performance balancer for a 250. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Here's the one from "Fisher Concepts" by way of Clifford Performance.
(That's another story ...)

Thanks for replys guys.
Think i'll be going with yours and my engine builders advice; the performance balancer. I don't want to risk destroying the engine and $375 is quite cheap relative the money i'm spending on the rest of the engine!

Fisher Concepts won't answer my emails so i think i'll go with Innovators West.

Cheers
