Good day 6 fans!!!
I was doing some work on my 200cid and noticed the old and new head gaskets have full flow water passages for cyl 4&6 while cyls 1 2 3 & 5 all have restricted flow through a .19 dia hole in the head gasket. This does not seem right?? Any explainations...

Mass production is the explanation. Take the time and gasket match providing you're sure you have the correct gasket in the firrst place.

8) bort is right, the smaller holes are actually steam holes to prevent steam pockets from forming. they are large in the block and head though to allow for ease of casting the block.

8) not a problem lagrasta, i have dealt with race engine builders who have made the same or similar mistake.

i wondered about the exact same thing. but since the old gasket and new one both had those little holes, i assumed it was supposed to be this way. glad i guessed right
