Head or Engine swap?

Questions oh so many questions...read the posts on shaving heads etc when you do a swap... now I have question. A guy I know says he has a 77 Maverick 4 door with a 6/2bbl in it. He is gonna give me the engine or what ever part of it I need. Assuming it is a 240 or 250 (he doesn't know which) and I have a 170/1bbl automatic in my 65 Ranchero, should I do an engine swap or just the head?...if I do the engine swap, what else do I need to change out/get off the parts car to put the bigger engine in?

if its stock then its a 1bbl and they never put a 240 in the mav so its a 200 or a 250 . If I were you I would go with the whole engin and tranny
