I see that I can go the Scott Drake route for $500 or a cheaper version off ebay or amazon for $130. Most say you get what you pay for but want to know if anyone was successful with the $130 version?

Have a look at MSDS Headers. Martin D. Schneider fabricates them in California. They fit good, no clearance issues in my 65 Falcon. $375.00.
I bought the single outlet header and had them coat with their Z 95 ceramic coating for another $167.00. Longer warranty if coated.

Yes severial site members have used them.

On the 144, 170, and 200, six these stainless-steel shorty headers will bolt on really nice without any modding. There will be some minor fitting of the connector pipe to then hook up to the rest of your exhaust system that you plan to use. There are also several Exhaust Kits made up for these vintage cars if you want a Dual Exhaust system or a Single, or you can also get a system built at your local muffler shop

One of our site members also fitted this header up to his 250 six build in his 1964 Comet by making a spacer plate for the head out of some Aluminum plate stock, and it fit very nicely in his Comet. Best of luck

I have to say, here in the UK we are not so lucky in being able to easily access these tuning items. I would rather not pay over £700 [ Circa $900} for a Scott Drake item from a UK specialist dealer! Especially when , from ebay USA, the purchase price of similar is around £88. Postage & tax/duty on top of that, of course..probably doubling the cost? I note that Scott Drake offer a dual outlet manifold [header to you lot!]...and a single outlet item......Now, for someone on a pathetic [by US standards] pension, a single exhaust pipe & silencer is the most economical route to go down.....a dual outlet item can be wye'd into a single pipe...but , is there any real difference in outcome between a dual outlet, going to single pipe...and a single outlet? Aside from the fact the Y junction would be further down the exhaust system?

Each system can work well but there are certain ways that will work better togeather for a single pipe system. Example with the above budget duel out header the two pipe collectors are brought togeather into a Y Pipe going to a single in and out muffler. Another way that also works well is to bring the two collector pipes into a duel inlet muffler with a single outlet. Best of luck

6 into 1, 4 and 4 w/cross pipe into 2, 6 into 2, etc.

For me it's 'long tube' (a bronk wants tq) rather than 'shorties'. To each their own.

For awhile ppl went the "Speed Daddy" way, a fleebay seller producing the 'ball connector' (more flexible/adjustable) SS shortie headers U might get from Matt:
if wanting to support a member & shop w/some 1 who caters exclusively to the ford i6. He supplies the final shorty of the 3 I cited above, and for the quality (I use) a very good bargain. A 1 man operation and FT wrker elsewhere, supply drops occasionally so patience applies if hitting him at a down time~

C Matt @ vi or Speed Dady on flee bay

just watched the 1st 1/2. Am searchin a vbelt for 3G atlernator. May B this 1 will fit?
Liked a lill color, we're too lilly white for me. Just like I like the girl/dad on a falcon elsewhere. I
all ways enjoy sompin different (ex-sailor? saw the anchor/Japanese script tats). Thnx 4 postin.

If you have or find the right pulleys you could go with a duel belt drive on the alternator/ water pump. Some people also use the soft start regulator too with the single belt drive.

try Matt, 210$:

A 68+ 2" outlet exhaust manifold, pipes and 2" turbo muffler will increase performance over the stock exhaust system and is a hell of a lot easier to install and work on than a header with dual exhaust.

"...easier to install..."
I like da price too !
(and ease of a 'tuck -up' due to off rd running)
Go (site) BB (bronk busters) !!!
