I just got a 1965 mustang convertible with a bone stock fresh rebuilt 200 / 3 speed. This car would be perfect for a turbo!! Here is my thing; I don't want to spend a lot of money on expensive kits, and I have never set up or plumbed a turbo. I would like to use parts form salvage cars, sicne they are plentiful aorund me. I don't have a lot of money, but I can fabricate about anything. Please help me by answering my questions.
1) What car am I looking for that has a turbo that would be sufficient for the 200? I know where I can have the complete setup off of a 91 Probe GT. Is this enough power? What am I looking for?
2) How do I plumb the exhaust form the manifold (stock or other) through the turbo? What size pipes do I need to use?
3) What steps do I need to take to bump up the fuel delivery to the motor? Is there an additional supply that has to kick in when the turbo does? Am I safe to assume the stock one barrel is not enough? Would a ford autolite 2 barrel (adapter plate) work? What about the stock fuel pump?
4) Do I need to change the camshaft? What am I looking for?
5) How do I supply oil to the turbo after it is mounted? Will the stock oil pump be enough? How do I feed it from the motor?
6) Is there a certain place I have to mount the turbo, as long as the axis is paralllel?
ANything you guys could help me with would be greatly appreciated. Pictures, advice, how to build pipes, anything. thanks. natejones75@hotmail.com
