I am having a problem with my temp gauge... it is reading like if i am over heating.. i have the 170 6cyl. i am not sure how to reset it.. or how to really check if i am really over heating.... ive switched all my fluids.. flush radiator.. car runs fine.... but my temp gauge goes all the way to HOT.. HELP,, please..

i'd say get a new thermostat cause the one uve got now might not be opening so all the liquid in your engin recirculates itself without going through the radiator.

Your problem could be several places, it could be the thermostat, the sending unit or an electrical problem or the gauge itself, etc... If both your temp and fuel gauge are off then it's your volt reg. in the dash.
Is the radiator overflow spitting out coolant???
I would try swapping out the sending unit with a new one or hooking up a temporary mechanical temp gauge to see exactly what temp your at.

Where about in LA are you??
I have a small Autometer temp gauge that I used briefly on another car that I can loan/sell/trade for beer to you. It only takes a few minutes to hook up, and it will at least tell you where to start looking

it might be my volt regulator then... because my fuel gauge has been acting up also...my radiator has not been over flowing or spitting out coolant....

i am in glendale. and yeah if you wanna sell it to me.. ill take it..thanks Williboy

If it is not the only gauge doing this then there is a little voltage regulator on the back of the instrument cluster. It may have gone bad. Be sure and have good grounds, One can never have too manyor too good of a ground.
