We are trying to get the 65 to turn over. We can get it to by going across the solenoid but we can not get it to work while trying to turn the key. The brand new heater blower does not work as well. I believe these are on the same harness and wonder how I can trouble shoot this problem. The windshield wiper motor does work though and I think it is on the same relay as well. ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated. We are at wits end on this.

The altenator, starter, starter relay and heater blower are all brand new.

Thanks
Ellen

Get one of those "test probes" with a screwdriver style handle, an 18" lead with alligator clip off the back. Make sure it's a 12-24V one, not mains electricity. They're cheap. It will tell you if the starter key switch is even sending current back to the solenoid. It will also help you find out where the supply feeding the heater blower loses continuity.

Have you go a proper wiring diagam? They can be found on the web.

Regards, Adam.

No we don't have a diagram yet. We bought a shop manual off ebay and still are waiting for it in the mail.

We think we figured out the ignition. The shifter was not correct. It showed park but my husband took it apart and pushed on the tranny. It was in the reverse position. He got it in park and realigned the shifter, turned the key and it turns over!!!! :P

The heater is a different bear. We still do not know what is wrong here but if it is like the rest of the car something is not connected. This car was advertised 80% done and rest of the parts there. Well, it was slapped together and now we have to take everything apart and resecure it.

Have a great day.
Ellen
