High idle

Hello just purchased an autolite 1100.I installed it on my 200 6cyl and it cranks rite up but idles high.
No tack so like 1500-2000.I tried the idle screw.
But it did not drop. I only had a couple minutes before the rain. Maybe timing.

make sure U ID screw properly, throttle springs, linkage. etc run freely…
many of us do not trust outta-the-box carbs as done correctly...

You've got the idle mixture screw, in the carb body. And then you have the idle speed screw at the bottom end of the throttle arm stroke. Turn the idle speed screw down. You may want to reset the idle mixture screw to 2 1/2 turns out from it's tightening stop if need be. And then adjust from there.

The adjustment at the bottom of the arm is the fast idle, seperate from curb idle and idle mixture. I just adjusted mine down the other day.

They're one and the same on mine. The fast idle is a function of the cam action of the choke arm on the idle speed screw, i.e. when the choke is open, the "fast" idle is engaged. Mine is manual choke though on a 170. Maybe his choke is sticking part open

Well i couldent reply but the problem was the hose clamp for the spacer plate was hitting the lower throttle linkage i think someone said to check that so kudos

1st time I was ever even close….

Glad U went out w/o the rain so you could problem solve w/all your faculties

I learned the hard way about carbs out the box. Went through 3 autolite 1100's from o'reilly before settleing on a holley 1904 to put on my 170.
