Holley 5200 on 1970 big-log intake

I don't know if this'll help, but here's how I mounted my H/W 5200 2-bbl w/ Stovebolt adapter directly to a '68 head/intake.

Right, I'm not using the spacer plate. But, was the original spacer plate tapered into a small 1bbl? I don't see why they would do that...

I've seen Ford 6 adapter plates with tiny holes mounted on big-hole mainfolds, as well as the opposite and everything in between. Good old Ford...

If I'm reading you right, your concern with opening up your existing adapter is that you'll have to notch the bolt holes so much that you'll lost clamping ability, is that right? If so, as long as you had at least half the bolt head on top of the flange, I wouldn't worry much about it - there's not much strain on them, and it doesn't take much tightening to seal.

That's alright, but I appreciate the link. I like how it is oriented correctly so the linkage will work.
