I have already received the 5200 from Stovebolt. I am getting ready to inatall on my 66 mustang and I am going to replace the distributor with a 68 dual advance distributor that I have ordered.

Does anybody have specific instructions written up for the insatallation?

I believe I have a stock water valve choke and I read on Albert Pinello's website that he made sure he got one with an electric choke, because it would be difficult to set up the water valve choke. How difficult is it do do this? My carb looks like it has 2 hose connections where the choke is, so I assume it is the water valve choke. Pics would also be helpful.

Thanks

I think I can come up with something for the linkage without a problem, but when i installed my Pacemaker headers the linkage arm that comes out from the firewall comes down on the top of the headers. Is there anything I need to do about this or is it ok?

Sorry...thought you had been replied too...

Personally, I would go with electric choke. The conversion is easy.

As far as the headers...I toyed with this for a long time with my Aussie head. The problem with the headers is very similiar. Easiest and best solution is to go cable throttle. I'm working on a write up for that right now. But basically, I got a gas pedal assembly for a V-8 mustang, and then bought a Lokar throttle cable kit. It basically allows me any carb configuration now. I'll post a write up and pictures soon.

I tried bending the old rod far enough out, but starting bending the firewall. I tried heat, everything. I even tried putting a cable throttle pulling from the bottom but didn't have enough movement. After fighting for a few days will all those options, I finally just bought a V8 set up.

Thanks for the help and advice. I think I have the the carb with the stock water valve choke I got from Stovebolt. Do you think Tom from Stovebolt would let me exchange it? It is still in the box.

Let me know when you are finished putting together the throttle conversion write-up.

Does anybody have any good pics of their 5200 setup. I need some good pics of the lines run to the distributor, vacuum lines, and fuel lines.

How do you hook up the stock water valve choke?

From my experience with the water heated chokes on a Renault, you need to have the infeed from the water pump bypass - in this motor, the usual outlet for the heater hose in the front of the head, passenger side. Tee off it, and run through the carb at the lower of the two fittings. The uppermost fitting returns to the water pump, where the heater frequently connects.

You'll need to mess about some with fittings, but choose brass if possible. Note that the carb choke cap corrodes badly with the wrong - or no coolant!

Regards, Adam.
