Hooker Headers

I have a good lead on a set thaqts pretty much new slightly used for 200 bucks they have high temp paint. The ad says their for a 200 ford 6 mustang or maverick. My question is what are the quality of the hookers I know they are expensive but are they worth it do they give good starter and ground clearancefor a 66 mustang. I have ac but i think i may have enough clearance already with the aftermarket bracket but if i dont i will use mikes recomendation.

also wanted to know if someone had some good pics for where the alternator mounts with the header just to check my clearance with ac i know the classic inlines will fit but i am usureof the hookers because the 2nd tube looks like it comes pretty close.

Can you afford a gear reduction type starter? That will greatly help clearance with the headers (and also heat related problems).

William (wsa111) runs Hooker headers on his '67. Obviously he has more room to move in the engine bay to begin with, but I don't recall any problems stated.

Why not just add up the cost of changing the starter, and modifying the accessory mount brackets? Then, from the maximum value (in your opinion) of the Hookers, subtract half this amount to give your highest bid...

My '66 had the hooker header. the alternator is close, but will work. when I get my next one in, i'll come up with a heat shield for the starter and alternator.as far as ground clearance they will scrape if your not careful.the clifford I have is a shorty so the clearance issue can be worked out. the starter and alt. clearance look the same.

i'm going back to a hooker setup and sell the clifford because I have everything to just bolt it up.

Have a '67 with Hooker headers. Sounds very different to my other set of Clifford headers. Clearance problems are neglibile.

Should fit fine, but use a heat shield for the starter. You can make one out of sheet aluminum.
