How do I mount my throttle equipment on my head?

Alright, more questions.

I have an E0 head that is at the shop as we speak (or type) getting rebuilt to performance spec's.

I'm planning on mounting a Autolite 1101 from a 1969 250, so I got the correct carb mounting plate from Linc (thanks), and now I have no idea where to mount the little rod that my throttle linkage slips onto. Previously, it mounted on the carb mounting plate.

I specifically got a fixed throttle Autolite 1101, not cable, because I was told I wouldn’t have to convert my mustang to cable throttle, but now I think the conversion is inevitable. Any ideas on where to mount the rod?

I was thinking I could somehow drill a hole in the carb mounting plate.. not all the way through, tap it, then just screw the rod right in, but if you guys have any better ideas, spill.

Another idea: My 80 head had an EGR port, and the some bolt holes to the sides, maybe i could somehow screw the rod into these bolt holes?

By the way, I'm imagining all this in my head since my head isn't around, so if i gave some off the wall idea, just disregard it without chastising me for my stupidity.

In 1969 Ford replaced the spacer pivot with two bolt holes in the head itself, towards the back of the log, just above the exhaust ports. There is an OEM bracket that bolts on there that locates a linkage pivot forward under the carb that resembles your old one. There were many different brackets bolted on back there over the years (some of which incorporated engine pulling hooks)- what you are looking for is the bracket off a 69 car with 200/250. In 69 Ford hadn't yet changed to the cross-head pulling throttle cable. A rearward pulling rod or cable was used in 69 that allows you to bolt it on and use it with your 1101 carb and 68 linkage. Locate one of those and you will be back in business. I may be able to come up with a picture if you can't picture what I'm talking about.
 
If you can, try to post or send me a picture, I can somewhat picture it, but i could use some reference while im scouting in the yard.

So in 1969, the cars that came with a 200/250's were...

I have done this conversion on my 67' mustang and the problem I ran into was the 69' uses a cable from the pedal and my 67' is fully mechanical I can take a pic for you tommorrow if you would like. I guess my question is, do you have a mechanical or a cable for your throttle coming from your pedal? If it is mechanical I will show you how I was able to keep my pedal the same and use parts of the 69' linkage to connect the throttle.
 
Ive got the fixed type linkage, not the cable. I was thinking of having the machine shop fabricate me some type of linkage since i couldnt find too much help on this, but if you guys have ideas.. spill. Thanks so much.
 
Here are some pics of my setup, the short cable (previously the kick down cable on the 69') and bracketry are from the 69' mustang. The original pedal and arm where retained. The only problem was where to put the return springs.

Nice photos Steve69Stang, that's essentially how I did it too. I ran a double spring back to the firewall bracket instead of putting the helper springs on the other side, and found an adjustable length rod to connect from the linkage to the carb that allowed me to shorten it slightly and put the pivot at a little more of a vetical/right angle, but essentially otherwise everything else was the same.

Where did you find that rod? I think it would give me more adjustabilty and decrease the angle so it doesent look like it binds. Mine doesnt bind now but it looks like it could.
 
I think I got it off an old pickup truck IIRC. I can't tell for sure if it's OEM or not, it's basically kind of threaded stock with female threaded ball sockets at both ends. It gives you about an inch and a half of adjustment before the ends come off or bottom out. You might be able to piece something like it together with some parts from Holley or someplace. I've also got a rod that someone cut and welded, adding a slight angle into the rod as they did so. Twenty years ago I worked at a wrecking yard and since I was into sixes at that time I collected a lot of these linkage pieces.
