How often do you change your spark plugs?

james, I can't say if they last longer as I put my Pertronix and plugs in together 10k ago. All are still great. I'd have to firgure they would last longer. Just the wider gap alone would increase life.

how about 1 week and less than 1k miles. 2 times. Champion Copper Plus plugs was the problem. fouled the #6 plug 2 times and I'm 1 where if 1 needs changed, they all do. after 2 sets of the Champions and I got a set of Autolites, did foul the #6 plug but I was able to put it in the #3 spot after drying off and put the #3 plug in #6 and it runs fine and has been for a long time now

I can't remember what my '65 Mustang owners manual (reproduction) stated for plug change but I have a recollection of 20 or 25K miles. I think that goes for points too. In my '65 289 V8 Mustang, I have 20K miles on the points and going. I've checked dwell and the point surfaces periodically and they're within spec. MPG is steady at 16. I changed the plugs about 10K miles ago, it's first set of plugs since I bought the car 35K miles ago.

I had a set of Autolite Copper Plus in my '78 302 Futura for 40K miles. They were way beyond service life because the center electrode was round.

I guess 40K is a bit much.

:D Most generally,I change my plugs, wires, rotor, cap and coolant every Spring.Have been setting plug gap at .045 for years.Ever since I converted the 74 F100 that I had to DS2.Never had any problems. When GM first came out with their HEI set up a friend wanted to experiment with plug life.He went 150,000 mi on the factory set before changing.Took 3 years only,as he had a sales route all over Florida and South Georgia.

I think thats one of the advantages i miss about not having the 6 as my daily driver- the ease of getting to all the plugs. The 302/5.0 motor has those last couple of plugs that are facing towards the firewall, so you need to work a little magic to get them in/out.
I went and tried those bosche platinum +4s. For the most part, i felt like i just blew $6/plug. I never noticed any difference in performance. However I have had these plugs for over 2-3 years now.
