Identifying intake/exhaust valves

On a '66 200, looking from the front of the engine, which valves are intake and which are exhaust? I can't find the answer anywhere.

From the front of the engine:
1st :exhaust>2nd:intake>3rd:exhaust>4th:intake, etc.

I believe that that is incorrect. cylinders 3&4 have their exhaust ports siamized thus those exhaust valves are side by side. Unless I am missing something the intake valves are the ones that are next to the intake ports and exhaust next to the exhaust ports. Therefore it would be EI-IE-IE-EI-EI-IE part of this is to keep the intake log as short as possible and also to isolate the exhaust heat from the intake as much as possible.

I sure hope it IS as easy as the intake valves are in line with the intake runners and exhaust valves in line with the exhaust pipes..true?

Ok, my mistake.
jeff, an easy way to check: the exhaust valve lines up with the exhaust ports and the intakes line up with the plugs. Correct?

Plugs are more centrally located in the head Keep it simple- intake valve lines up with intake port- exhaust valves lines up with exhaust port exhaust tubes line up with exhaust port and knee bone is connected to the EI EI O

Thanks guys. I realy feel like a fool, it never even ocurred to me to look at the intake/exhaust ports. I guess the obvious wasn't plain enough.
