Im Still Scheeming...

IF YOU CAN PROVIDE ME WITH A DXF. DRAWING OR A TRACED TEMPLATE I WOULD BE HAPPY TO CUT A FEW FOR FUTURE USE. I JUST NEED THE DRAWING. THEY WOULD BE CUT ON A CNC HIGH DEF. PLASMA TABLE. BTW I WOULD LIKE A DXF OF THE REAR DISC. BRAKE BRACKETS ALSO. ALL I ASK IS YOU PAY FOR SHIPPING. YOU CAN PM ME. MOST MATERIAL WOULD BE OTOF OUR SCRAP OR DROP.

Really ?

Hmm - what is DXF, all I am familiar with is Autocad.

The more I think about it however, the More trivial it seems. For an exhaust flange there is no reason to attempt to match the size of the port.

Using a hole saw of Diameter larger than the Diagonal of the port would suffice, especially if said hole saw produced a hole ID which was slightly larger (snug fit) than an existing Tubing ID. would make welding the Primaries to the Flange Much easier.

Having the header primaries larger than the exhaust port Will only help with reversion ( not that there is likely to be much under boost ) And won't hurt unless grossly oversized ( im not talking 2' primaries here )

The only tricky part will be the center Siamesed exhaust port, but that could easily be accomplished by Two holes of Said Diameter next to each other.

Because this is going to be a boosted application, I can get away with alot more in terms of minor deviations from perfect flow.

better pick up some stock On Friday, perhaps.

Generally, using woodworking tools on steel is not recommended. I am using a variable speed router turning a two flute 1/4" carbide mill. It has worked pretty well and cuts fast and clean.

All the usual safety precautions apply. Eye protection, ear protection, even fire protection. I always wear gloves and a leather shop apron when doing this stuff, too.

Gee. I wear flip flops, A tank top shorts and my sunglasses :)

I would get a metal Cutting hole saw, I wouldnt expect to be cutting 1-1/2" holes in 1/4" steel w/ a Wood one.

FYI

Drawing Interchange Format (DXF). Most CAD programs can read this file type.

If you run AutoCAD you have the capability to "Save As" or "Export" in this file format.[/quote]

Thank you Mline.

Maybe I will look into that option.

I can however think of about 100000 other things I would like CNC cut, lol.

Once I get a chance to Look at the head in more detail Ill decide. IT woudl be nice if we could get a run of these cut and whoever needed one could contribute a little $ towards metlbndr for his time.

I HAVE A LIST OF THINGS I WANT TO CUT IN THE NEAR FUTURE ALSO, I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED, I HAVE A STACK OF PAPER 6" HGH OF POSTS AND ADVISE I HAVE GLEANED FROM THIS WEB SIGHT. I WILL BE CUTTING PARTS FOR RACK AND PINION BRACKETS, DISC BRAKE BRACKETS, AND OTHERS.

Mtl, Where are you located ?

If you say Bay Area, I am liable to kiss something.

lol

This weekend I might get a chance to get an autocad drawing done. Do you have a Head there you could test fit on ?
