Is my firing order off?

Hi everyone,

I have not posted on here in a while. The 2bbl carburetor was my last project. I am still unhappy with the linkage, so I am considering a cable linkage. I now have a garage for my Mustang. It is a 28' x 32' pole building. The concrete still needs to be poured but the structure is complete otherwise. The Mustang is in there now (there is crushed stone down, which the concrete will be poured over). My father and I also bought a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500XL convertible project. It has a 390 cubic inch engine. I also purchased a 429ci engine from the same owner. I am now no longer just an inline guy. I still love my reliable six cylinder and will not forget it. The Mustang is still my number one project. :D

I have a question about firing order. On my 1968 200ci the firing order is 153624. On the distributor cap each spark plug inlet is numbered. I arranged my spark plugs in the following way:

Spark plug wire #1 to the #1 inlet on the dist. cap. I did this with each plug, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4...

Is this right or have I been starting my car on the wrong firing order?

Thanks,

Justin

Thanks. I was hoping that might have been the reason for the starting trouble. It is probably the carburetor itself.
