IT WORKS! IT WORKS! The Stang is back!

After a day of college and work, I arrived home, and almost chose not to go into the garage. I decided that I should enjoy the decent weather, tired or not, and open up the garage. I went over the recent carburetor issue in my mind over and over: Primary throttle plate not closing all the way, causing the engine to "race" at idle - gasket is fine - fuel mixture screw backed out all the way and does not even change idle speed. I looked the old Holley 2bbl carburetor over and started to play with the throttle lever. I opened the lever all the way, and let it close but kept my finger on the secondary throttle, not allowing it to close. When I took my finger away I noticed that the primary throttle plate was not closed all the way, even with the fuel mixture screw backed all the way out, just like the new carburetor! I do not know exactly how I fixed it, but I had to fully rotate the throttle lever again and readjust a lever in the choke area. I made the same adjustment to the new carburetor and it works! :D I would like to thank everyone who helped me in the previous post, I really appreciate it. Now I can drive the Mustang again...wait, no I cannot. I need to order a cable throttle.

Thanks,

Justin

Yo Dude,
I've got a V-8 gas pedal if you are interested.
I got my throttle connection working with my I-6 linkage. So no cable mod is required.
Let me know and we work something cheap out...includes pedal an firewall rubber seal.

I used a cable throttle from an 88 f-150 with the 300 out of a junk yard. It is about a foot longer and has the same plastic fitting to hook to the pedal fork. It was just the right length and has the same screw holes to mount it to the same stock hole on the firewall. Even has the right spring/socket for the tit on the carb.

If the weather is nice this Sunday my father and I are going to a junkyard. We are looking to strip some parts off of an early Galaxie. I will see if I can find a cable throttle from a 300. Thanks.
