WhooooHooooo! We made it into the 12's!
Still having some tuning issues but we're making progress. The carb was giving us some fits today and the adjustment we made just made it worse. So I'll have to tear into the carb and check it out.
FFW was a blast! Rich (82F100) and Mike (AZCoupe) came out to see the little Falcon go. Thanks for coming out guys!
We were very busy answering questions all weekend. Everybody stopped by to see what was under the hood of a quiet, 12sec. Falcon. The staging lanes were the best. Kelly was waiting in line next to a beautiful '40 Willy's (with Ford power), tubbed, flamed, big motor sticking out of the hood etc. and nobody was paying any attention to it. We had the hood up on the Falcon and there were at least 6 people standing there checking stuff out! It was unreal!
By the way we were running 12lbs. of boost, 3.89 gears (it needs 4:11s to be perfect!) and a new manually shifted C4.
That's about it,
Later,
Will

Congrats to You and Kelly!  :checks: :checks:

Keep the HITS coming...!!!!!

BTW Will, what fuel are you using???

Again, great job! Please post any pics you have, THX

Alex

Great news Will congrats! I know what you mean about drawing a crowd, at our last car show so many people were asking questions and taking pictures of our Mustang sixes, even many of the v8 guys were inpressed. What's your next goal 12'sec flat? 8) 8) 8)

Wow you`r in the 12s great!!!! I`d be happy to one day get my mav in the high 13s  . I hope y`all get the bugs worked out! Do ya have any updated pictures of the engin ???

Thanks guys!
For racing the fuel is a approx. 50/50 mix of 91 octane pump gas and 112 Trick Racing fuel. On the street we use just the 91 and whatever race gas is remaining in the tank from the last race. So I'll guess a 80/20 mixture. So far no electrodes missing from the plugs, no holes in the pistons, and the head gasket is still in place. Knock on wood! :D
The next goal is to slowly get faster and faster while learning the tune up. Now that the NHRA is allowing cars to go 11.49 without rollbars that might be the "ultimate" goal. We'll see. I don't know if I want my wife going 11's without a rollbar anyway! And we don't want to cut up a perfectly good Falcon just to make it faster. I think for the time being we'll work on making it as fast, and consistant as we can.
I didn't get any pics myself, too busy doing the crew chief thing. But I know that AZCoupe got some. Maybe he'll post them.
Later,
Will

damn that is six(get it). you know my uncle has a 71 nova with a 454 worked and runs high 11's he also has a 55 belair blown that runs low tens , they both combined arnt as cool as that. 12's with 12psi and stock motor. i think thats where the definition of fords "built ford tough" comes into play. keep up the good work. and good luck reaching the 11.49 mark.

I log on everyday in search of your updates and they STILL make my heart jump!! 12's!!!!!!!! Thats unbelievable!!!!!! Keep it up and lets get another video, maybe this time with a little turbo noise in it!!!
Matt

I don't know if you realize it, but you must be making over 260 RWHP and nearly 300 HP at the flywheel to be going that fast! Aboslutely incredible for a near stock 250 with a hair dryer!

No nitrous here! I used to be addicted to the stuff in my '86 Mustang. But no matter how much I paid attention to the tune, I could never get the car to do the same pass twice. It was constant work. So I sold all of the nitrous junk and found religion......turbocharging! :D
Will

Thats just wooow :o Good job.. Do you think you can run the same numbers at the Tucson track? I think the Pheonix track is about 1000 feet lower in elevation.

Congrats on the 12s!! This is really good to see. Keep up the good work, you guys are paving the way for the rest of us :D

Yeah dude, F- nitrous!!

What RPM are you seeing at the line, do you know??

Do you know the track elevation?

SWEEEET!!!!!! Way to go guys!!!! That is flying! Keep up the good work. @ 12 psi, I know there is a lot more in it! 8)

She's going thru the traps at around 5100rpm.
I think Firebird (Phoenix track) is at 1700' or so. Tucson is at 3075.

We did find a problem with our carb setup. Due to the carb sitting sideways, and a 1.74 sec. 60' time, the fuel was sloshing to the rear of the car (left side of the bowl) during 1st gear, lifting the float and shutting off the fuel flow, thus the front jet was sucking air. About the time Kelly shifted into 2nd, the car would stumble a bit then take off.
The cure was to get a circle track float that has a bevel on the left side of the float. Works good now!
Unfortunately during her qualifying at Vegas this last weekend, her Crew chief (me!) decided that she needed more jet (#78s) and of course....more boost! The car blew black smoke all the way down the track and did a "measely" 13.05@104. So after putting the car back to where it was tune up wise, the race was called due to bad weather. :(
Oh well! We'll try again later.
Will

Thats still nothing to shake a stick at. :) 1.74, 60 foot times are great too, woow. Can't wait to see your car in person, only 45 more days and I should be back in the states. Later.
