i was wondering... my car was running fine but then i added a tac and then it later went dead and i had to jump it...
i have aftermarket fog lights, a pioneer head unit and speakers, and a tac running off the car...
i was talking to my dad and he was saying with the old police crusiers they had to put larger/more amp alternators to run the electronics...
i was wondering if the problem could be this,
do i need to run a higher amp alternator?

Is your tach wired to a constant power source? Usually the wire for the tach lights should be wired up to a power source that is on when the key is on.That may be the problem.

the light is wired to the light for the headlights so it doesnt go on till the headlights go on...
but the power source i put in the accesory because i couldnt find one that was only a car on power source...
anyone know for a 67 what would only be powered when the car is all the way on?

Running it off accesory should be fine, it's still not on if the car is off, only in the acc, or on key positions.

Get an ohm meter, or a test light and start checking different fuses or wires with the key in acc, off, and on or run to find one the old fashioned way. At the very least you should check that the circuit you have it wired to is really an accesory circuit and not on all the time.

Unless the car sat for a long time, I'm having a hard time imagining the tach drawing enough current to kill the battery.
