So I know it is hard for neer stock I6s to do burn outs but I was wondering if Line Locks will help signifigantly enough to instal. Does anyone have any kind of experience with this?
First off, you shouldn't have any problems burning tire with the 6. If you do - there is something wrong.
Secondly, burning tire for the sake of burning tire is pretty retarded.
Lastly, a line lock has a very specific use and if you are using it to just "show off" to your buddies, you are going to look like an idiot to anyone who actually knows anything.
Just for clarification I know what line locks are for. They are used by different people for different things. They can prevent rolling at the lights, warming your tires before racing, and are used quite alot for doing burnouts at summer shows and such.
I have a little bet going with my dad that my stock I6 and burn outs, he doesnt think that it can while I say that it can.
Even a worn 200 will put out 45-50HP. Considering the rear weight of a Mustang or Falcon plus the small contact patch under your tyres, a burnout should be academic.
If it's not happening, trans losses or clutch slip would be places to look. That well before a line lock device.
Well thanks for all the imput. I wasnt pushing it that hard because I was sort of afriad of the conditon and breaking something. I cant try again because it is up on blocks right now. When it is down on the ground again and the way it should be I will try again. I might put line locks in or I might not. In you guys opinion should I bother putting it in or not?

when my rear drums were leaking a few months back it was kinda like having a line lock. and i could light em up pretty good. even with my breaks in proper condition i can break em loose. dont let me roll up with my back pas. tire in a puddle tho, then your really done!
