Guys I promise this will be the last time I ask this, I have a C5 block and head. There is no smog pump, the carb I have is a non-spark valve 1100, the dist I am using is a single vacuum advance with no springs or weights under the breaker plate, would I be better off changing to a single diaphram with internal weights for better performance and fuel economy.

Also I have cut off the flow of coolant to the carb plate, but still have a hard start acts like it is loading up, after hot soak any tricks up your sleeves would be appreciated.
Thanks Fred

Howdy Fred:

Your stock OEM distributor should be a Load-O-Matic, with springs visible when you remove the distributor cap. If this is the case, you either need to get a carb with a SCV, or (Bort's and My choice) replace your distributor with a later '68 or later distributor.

If your 1100 is stock and has no SCV that would indicate that it is a '68 or '69 vintage (or a Calif Emission 1966-'67). All of these carbs are downsized in cfm from 185 cfm on earlier 200s to 150 cfm. Not good for performance.

While the later distributor, with centrifugal advance along with vacuum advance, helped performance it cannot make up for the loss.

Adios, David

Yes. You need to get rid of the LOM distributor.

It will not work properly without a spark control valve.

I can confirm this. You will have NO power whatsoever. Like my car right now.
