what is the max p[ower you can get out of a 223 with stock parts? has anyone ever looked into whether or not a set of afternarket rods could be made to work in a 223?

I have not seen anyone attempt to make huge numbers with a 223...

I think you could get away with using some ARP bolts with stock rods to begin with. H or I beam rods would probably be over-doing it a bit depending on your power goals.

well, the reason that i am asking is there is a member on here who had a 223 with rotomaster turbo setup bakc in the 70's and he said that he had a rod snap at like 10 or 11 psi. so i was thinking that if i could strengthen the botom end with some better rod bolts and rods and main bolts or studs, you could give a lil more boost and it handle it. see i am seriously contemplating putting a turbo on my 223 and i am doing all my research now so i don't bust shit later. any other thought that might help would be greatly apprecitaed.

Call SCAT or EAGLE and see if they have a Rod that will work. The length does not have to be spot on. You can just use a custom height piston with a lil longer rod if need be.

I still think that some ARP bolts on some GOOD or FRESH stock rods would probably be just fine. I would probably go with some KING Rod & Main bearings as well.

Really this fella that lost a rod with 10-11psi...Did he KNOW for sure he had all good rods to begin with?? If not then his exp. may not be much of a barameter to go by.
