Measuring main jet

Anybody now a good way to measure a main jet on a autolite 1100. I was going to try a step or two leaner of a jet but when I pulled my current jet out of the carb it had no number on it. I have a pair of calipers that I might be able to get a decent measurement with, but I thought I would ask here and see what you guys think.
Thanks.

Guitar strings also come in a variety of guages.
If you know someone who plays they will be clipping off the ends after re-stringing.

I tried some old guitar strings and drill bits, but nothing fit super snug (right around .064). The measurement I get just using my calipers is right at .069 . wondering if this measurement Is also the number that would be stamped on the jet normally?

Depends on carb manufactur ! Numbers stamped on jets don't always follow the drill size some are marked by their flow rate. If you can find a jet number chart for the brand of carb will give you the answer.
