Smoke started coming out under the dash, and I looked under, and the pink resistor wire melted. Popped the hood and the Red/Green & Brown wires that connect at the firewall were frayed and the plastic sheathing had melted.

I bought a replacement guage feed harness. Also bought a replacement resistor wire. Gauge feed harness was a cinch to install, but I can't figure out how to install the resistor wire, as it looks like I need to depin the old one out of the harness on the interior side. Any tips?

Hey, did you find a solution? The pink wire comes from the ignition switch. Do you by chance have an electronic ignition, that way you don't even want to use the resistor wire.

My 2 cents: You should try to figure out why it went up in smoke so it doesn't happen again.
