I have been ahving problems getting my 2v carb set up so i put the 1bbl back on. the only things that are different than they were before are, the vaccum advance is on manifold instead of ported, the pcv valce is in a 90* elbow not straight into the valve cover.

The engine idled much smoother than it did before and seemed to be running well. I stopped by the parts place to pick up some stuff this morning and then drove to work, traffic was bad so it got kind of hot nothing out of the ordinary though.

Leaving work the car fired right up and as i pulled out of the parking lot it started to miss, seemingly at random it kept missing randomly on the way home, it missed at varying different speeds and was running much hotter than it usually does.

I am not sure what to make of this  no idea why it would behave like this all of the sudden.

Thanks and sorry for all the questions but i am learning everything as I go along (no one in my family is a car person so i am on my own when it comes to stuff like this)

I would guess going to manifold vacuum is the problem. All that advance at idle is probably causing the overheating. Go back to a ported vacuum & retune the carb. If you don't have a ported vacuum source to match the distributor, you'll have to come up with some solution to get your timing advance curve closer to normal.

But then I am not familiar with your setup. Getting the right vacuum source for your vacuum advance is the point.

Well I got the autolite 2100 on and running, moved the advance back to the port on the 2100 but i am having different trouble with the idle. It was idling really rough yesterday when i went to work, so i played around with it a little bit before i drove home and i had it running good, with the idle speed turned up a little bit, faster than i would like though. then this morning it was the same, idling really rough untill i turned the speed up even more and turned the idle mixture scrws in a little bit more. it also sounded like there was maybe a slight miss every now and then at idle.

why would it be fine last night and bad this morning? still too lean of an idle mixture? i would like to get the idle speed down a little bit but smooth it out some also.

Thanks
