Motorcraft 2150.

I got a free motorcraft 2150 from a friend of mine off of a early 80s ford with a v6. The carb is a 1.08 venturi so it should be good for a 250, and it should have good velocity though the venturis. Anyways I adapted it onto the log manifold with an adapter I made and a 2bbl adapter (I know its not the optimum but I wanted to try it to see if it would work). I started the car up but it completely refused to idle. I could get it to rev up to 3K and it sounded awesome  but it would just stumble and die afterward. There is a port of some sort underneath the float bowl area which leaks fuel, I plugged it with a vacuum plug. When I took the carb off of my friends parts car, I took a picture but I cannot see what that port is supposed to be connected to. I included a picture I took today (sorry its crappy quality but the only thing I had with me was a cellphone and a flashlight) and the port is labeled as B. Also what are the two other ports? I know C is probably a bwl vent of some sort, right? Anyways If there are any other suggestions as to what else I can do to get the carb to idle please let me know. I also included the old pic that was taken in daylight when it was still on the parts car.

Thank you in advance for your input.

I found out that it is the power valve vacuum port. (isnt google awesome) Would not having it connected to vacuum cause the carb not to idle?

Your right about the A port. If there is no vacuum at the power valve port the power valve will open and make it run too rich and flood. The C port is the bolw vent, and the B port is the dissy hookup I think.

Ok Thanks for the response! I will try and hook up the vacuum to the power valve port. By the way, should it leak fuel if it is not plugged with anything? If it shouldnt, then I probably need a rebuild huh?

Anyways thanks for the response!

If it's leaking fuel out of the port there's a good chance that the powervalve is bad. That will also cause the problems that your having. A rebuild wouldn't hurt but before you put any money into it check out the throttle blade shaft. If that carb has a lot of use on it then chances are it'll have a lot of slack which can cause a bad vacuum leak.

If you don't want to put a lot of money into it right now you could just buy a new powervalve and the required gaskets cheap, a good rebuild kit will run between 25.00 and 50.00 dollars.
