Hi everyone Im glad to find this board. I just got a 66 comet with a 200 that had been sitting for a month until today. I personally drove it the last time it had run and it was running fine. I go to pick it up this morning, it wouldent start. No gas was entering the carb to I pull the line off and no gas was comming from the pump, I unhooked the supply line from the tank and hooked a hand pump up to it. The pumped sprayed gas, so I replace the fuel pump. Than the car would barley idle it just reved up and down and sometimes stalled as it reved down, I bumped the idle up a little and it would itleast stay running but still revs up and down but will run fine when I hit the gas. This is what I have done so far
-Pulled each plug wire while it was running each time it would make it run worse, so I guess its not a dead cylinder.
-Opened up the carb to find it was very clean needle valve was operating fine and the jet was clean.
-I dont have a timing light so I havent messed with the timing, but nothing has changed since it was running fine the last time it ran.

Im stumped anyone have any ideas? I wanna get this thing on the road.

What kind of ignition are you running? Are you running a pertronix Ignitor II? Cause I has surging problems with my ignitor two and I had to two-foot it when it was stopped.

Try ear-tuning your choke. I cant get into it now, its 530AM here, and not feeling well, kinda like your car, at idle. Ill explain later in the day.

For one, see if it idles better with the choke pulled 1/4 inch or a little more out.

Sounds like your fuel to air ratio either the choke or idle screw.

whats a good setting for the idle mixture screw? Mine is right around 3 turns out.
