My new FSP header hits the throttle linkage...what to do?

I doubt I'm the only one who has experienced this problem. Does anyone have work-around or recommendation to fix this?

My car is a 65 Mustang with a 200.

Any help appreciated.

nice link 66200i6. That's my thought as well. Just bend it or add a piece to it allowing a bit of a reroute. You can always go with a cable as well.

With 66200i6's method you split the horizontal shaft to lift the carb side to clear the pipes. With mine you pull it up with brute force.

When you have the Z-bar linkage out, lay it down on your worktable first and either cut n' weld or tug n' pull until it is dead flat. THEN you make the bend at the header after provisional re-installation and marking.

Hint: Leave the kickdown lever and cable attached to each other. Just remove the U-bolts and let it dangle. This will help you get the right position for the linkage when you reinstall it permanently.

ATTN: see correction above. A little pedal adjustment may be necessary.

No need to bend, heat, etc... Just switch to a V8 style.

So, the V8 Z bar will work without modifications? Can you be a little more clear on that?

If you have the V-8 Style linkage handy great use it. However a little heat and the rod will bend around to what ever you need. Easy 5 min fix

It is the 'bellcrank' thing that has a double lever. You could probably salvage one off of a 60's V8 at a local yard. There is also the cable throttle, but this brings the issue of the kickdown lever. However, others here have solved it.

I don't have the kick down currently hooked up anyway. I prefer to do that manually.

So I gather the V8 linkage adapts easily and requires no bending. Ok. But it's a simple matter to bend the rod as well. I'll go that way first.
