i am going to look at a motor tomorrow. it is a 250 complete from oil pan to air cleaner. it also comes with a 3 speed trans. i will be swapping the 170 out of my 65 ranchero for this 250. what are some thing i will run into with this swap? or will it be fairly easy? the motor is out of a 69 mustang. any help would be appreciated.

the 250 is about 1" wider, and taller than the engine you currently have
i'm not completely sure if the maverick frame-to-engine mounts will bolt into your car, but i think other's here have done the swap

i'm over at Port Hueneme right now, if you want help gimme a yell and i'll wander over one weekend, gotta truck to assist in transport if needed

the motor is in oxnard. i will let you know after i look at the motor to see if it is worth it. i appreciate your offer to help.

If possible get the frame/engine mounts. They are hard to find for a 250 and nobody is making reproductions. A long time ago I did some measuring at a wrecking yard in Colorado of uni-body engine bays and they should bolt in (if I hadn't lost that information when I moved I'd tell you for certain).. Also see if you can get the 'head pipe' that bolts to the exhaust manifold. I presume that your '65 has a smaller diameter then the '69 250 exhaust manifold.

lots of luck,
-ron
