Need Tune Up Suggestion for a 69 250

I'm going to be installing a Pertronix II ignition system in my 1969 Mustang with a 250 ci. When I set the timing where should I set it to? Also would .040 be ok or too much or should I go more on the Spark Plug gap. Thanks Bill

Howdy Bill:

Set the initial at 5 degrees more than what the stock setting calls for.

Start with the plugs at .040". If that is strong with no misses, try .045" Not much point going beyond that.
