I have a 72 Mav with a 170 I6. I just got done putting the weber on it.

It increased my MPG but since it takes me a month to empty the tank I have not have a chance to check for sure, so far I'm at five weeks to fill up so I'm getting an extra week.

What adapter are you getting?

Get an electric choke from Langdon's stovebolt. Use a relay to power the choke. Connect the coil of the relay to GND and the stator wire of the voltage Regulator/ALT. The switch of the Relay connects to +12V and the other side to the choke heater. Wired this way the choke will only recieve heater voltage when the engine is actually running.

Langdon can also supply an air cleaner.

I needed to make an extender for the throttle linkage to reposition the Throttle ball on the carb. It mwas just a flat plate with three holes drilled in it. Two of the holes were screwed to the carb throttle arm and the carb throttle ball was installed in the third one.

I love the sound the intake makes now in the mid RPM range when I punch it. It make a raspy throughty buzz.

Take a look at the geometery of the carb linkage. The connection for the primary bore looks like it will need to rotate counter clockwise to work. Take a look at your stock linkage and confirm that the stock backet on the carb will work with your throttle linkage.

There a a few different places that you can buy brackets that will move the attach point. It looks like you found a carb with the nut on the forward side. The bracket is easily replaced.

Good luck, Ric.

That looks exactly like my carb and I had no problem with rotation, just mount the carb so the throttle is in back by the firewall

thanks guys... im probably gonna order the adapter off summit and a rebuild kit from napa this week... i cant wait to get this bad boy on... one plus is that my K&N will fit in this airfilter... you guys that have put this on your six, how was the power increase?

Not sure if I got any power increase. Mostly interested in milage. The 170 is powerful enough for my uses.

I even towed a packed trailer (5X7 Jartran) from Siera Vista AZ to Sunnyvale CA. The grape vine was the only challenge. 55 MPH in second going up hill what a rush, it took it though and came back for more, that was 24 years ago on a 69.5 mav with a 170 that was already 13 years old.
