I am looking to replace the distributor on my 54 223 so that I can update the carb to something other than the stock carb. I see that a Duraspark may be the choice. I was hoping to find the mystical direct bolt-in, but looks like that is not possible. Any feed back is really appreicated.

It is my understanding that a DS2 distributor from a 300 will work, BUT, you need the hex drive & oil pump for a '64+ 223/262. (although ford stopped using the 223/262 in vehicles after '64, I've found references that these motors were still used in industrial applications till '67?) I belive a few guys here have gone this route. Hope this helps,
Edwin

i have a 59 ranchwagon with a 223 i did not want to pull the pan to change to the 64 oil punp so i had a oil punp drive with 1/4 hex on one & 5/16 on the other end made similer to heavy duty drives for 302

one more thing you have to do is put the gear from the 223 dist on the 240/300 dist the first one we bored out when it was about to size it went through the hard surface & went over size the next one we stop .020 short & hone it to size
