OK! It's done.....DYNO RESULTS!!!!! Aussie 2V

The peak HP was @ 4200 RPM just as a stock 200 would have peaked at that RPM too! Remember this 200 Block is Stock even the Cam!

Mustangaroo,

Im curious with the Aussie 2V how much clearance from the top of the carb to the hood?

Not bad for some bolt-ons! Good work.. Get rid of that peg-legger rearend, and hook up a T5, and you'll see 16s.... :)

82F100 sorry I missed your post earlier, yes I did make changes while doing the dyno runs, I did six or eight runs, and the lowest I got was 102 HP, I changed my carb jets and also adjusted -&+ the dizzy to see if I could hit 110 hp, but no dice 105 hp was all that I could get out of her with just bolt ons! My son is doing the same setup but with a 256 INSY cam, we'll dyno it just as soon as he pulls the engine and it's rebuilt...should be done in December! hoping for 25-30 hp improvement in the rear wheel numbers!

Any idea's on more hp for my six? The critia being....Bolt on! or other improvements without changing the block from stock! No NOX! No port or polish! My next plan is to run a vacvum check of the Carb and see if I can go to a 350 cfm? Anyone out there have a aussie to Holly adapter laying around?

Mustangroo, do you happen to know what size valves came in the Aussie head?

Intake 1.65 and exhaust 1.50 is my memory of the stock head, I know their small than the '78 and later US 250 heads....

you've pretty much exhausted your "bolt on" upgrades except for upgrading your existing upgrades, like a better ignition (think MSD) or a better carburetor.

There's LOTS you could do if you didn't limit yourself to bolt-ons. :)

Well I think I'll fine tune it the way it is and see if I can't get 5-10 more HP, then after my son's rebuild is done and we dyno his engine I'll look at either installing a cam or maybe port and polish and add a bigger carb?

There are probably a few more horses (maybe 10-15) to be found by going to a Holley 350 instead of the 5200. Maybe a 38 DGES would be good.

Does your distributor have mechanical advance or is it the old vacuum only unit. If it's the vacuum only, there are at least 5 more horses hidden there by switching to a later dizzy..

And
I think you should get a mild cam, even the mildest of them are probably better than stock, and I don't think they'd lose you much mileage. Probably a Comp 252 would be best, and wouldn't be anywhere near a rough or lumpy cam.

Just a update, I now have a carb adapter for the Holly 500 cfm, my plan is to bolt it on and retune the engine and see if I can get the RWHP up to 120 HP. I'll DYNO it after it feels like its running correctly.
My son is pulling his engine Friday 12/13/02 for a complete rebuild, Aussie 2V, 256 ISKY cam about .450 lift, headers, 350 or 500 Holly, balanced the engine and with a CR around 9:8.1......Then we DYNO it after she gets broke in! We'll post all the numbers after we DYNO both engines!

Ben,
Impressive numbers for a stock set-up. Cant wait to see your update and your son's numbers as well. Sounds close to what I'm attempting.
Will your son be going with larger valves as well, to complement the 256 cam?

Ragtopman, sorry but he is just using the stock valves from the aussie 2V, in our opion the larger valves do make more HP, but we think that our build up will yield enough HP to make us happy and stay within his budget! He's not racing his Mustang and can't justify the extra expence!  but we know from my bolt on additions that with a new cam, he will get plenty of ponies to run the streets with!
He did pull the engine today and will have a finished and installed engine within the next two weeks, and of course we will DYNO it and post the numbers what ever they turn out to be! We are hoping for a little over 175 HP!

Hey Mr. 'Roo

Can I swing by after you install little Roo's engine in the 'stang? I would like to see his setup. I may try to talk Mr. ragtop into riding along with me. How about it Ragtopman?

Is your son using a Holley 500 or the Holley 350 for his engine?

FYI, if you're interested some dude is selling a 250-2V intake that's been converted to 4bbl.

Cheers,
DB

I found an old Hot Rod Magazine at a swap meet. It is the June 67 issue, AK Miller dyno a stock 67 Mustang 200 3 speed 320 gear at 65 HP at the rear wheels. To make a long story short he added Doug's Header a 1bbl carb from a 240 six milled head .060 Autolite BF32 plugs Costom Isky cam 260 duration .408 lift . Costom dual 2" exhaust set timeing 10 initial, the result was 105 HP at the rear wheels. Not bad for 1bbl carb and small cam! Russell

DBzOkole, sure drop by but call first to make sure it's installed and running! He should have it installed near the end of the month. We're thinking about using the Holly 5200 at first just to see what HP it will DYNO using the smaller carb, then will go to the 500 cfm! Are you going to be driving up in the Falcon?

Nah, most likely not in the Comet. The grapevine is a stinka, I don't know how the old ride would handle the elevation. I'd hate to get stuck in that Tulle fog driving an unfamiliar car too. But for sure I'll come visit on the way up to Shaver Lake.

67 falcon
the result was 105 HP at the rear wheels.

65 HP is what I have heard a 200 six would be if you put it on a dyno, I know it's hard to belive but 105 at the rear wheels really doesn't sound like much HP, but after 65 HP it feels like a rocket sled! My son and I are looking forward to the dyno results with his Aussie 2V and his new rebuild he started today! :!:
