First things first:
66 Mustang 200 automatic

I have decided to stick with a stock look as much as possible. The car is almost completly stock is in great shape and as much as I would like to get the max performance out of it something tells me that one day my kids will be happy that I left this car in a relitively untouched condition.

I have an exhaust leak so I am going to replace the manifold with one of the later FOMCO models that are slightly larger. I also am going to put a 2.25" exhaust in. The Falcon performance handbook mentions the Walker DynoMax turbo muffler as a good civilized upgrade. Does anybody know the part number. I can't find online. I plan on installing the new manifold myself purchasing the muffler and a nice exhaust tip and having a local exhaust shop install the pipes as I belive they will need to be custom bent. I have already installed a complete pertronix ignition upgrade and an air hog air filter. Once the exhaust is complete I will install a larger 1 bbl carb and then leave it at that. All of these upgrades can easily be undone in the fututre. Thanks Ed

You've got a nice plan. Check the yellow pages in your phone book for a Walker dealer. Prices can vary some.

You might want to consider a 2" system for your purposes. It will maintain better velocity and will still be a nice step up from your current 1.7/8" system.

Adios, David

I second David's comments, 2.5 exhaust pipes would be overkill on a basically stock 200, 2" would work better and fit easier (and be less expensive).

I'd call around, find a Walker dealer and figure out which one you want - round or oval (side or offset inlet/outlet).

Prices do vary, a quick look at www.summitracing.com shows the Walker turbo mufflers from $23 to $120+, depending on model and materials.
