PCV location vs breather cap?

Most valve covers I see for inline sixes have the large hole for the breather atthe front of the valve cover towards the radiator.

My inline six valve cover seems to be backwards. Where does your PCV attach...towards the front or back???

Or is my valve cover on backwards???

Steve,
I have a 66 convertible. My PCV is in the back and I wonder if your valve cover is on backward. I can read the "Powered by Ford" when I stand on the drivers side looking in toward the valve cover. Looks like the letters in your picture face the carb/passenger side. I wonder if it makes any difference?

If you look at the bolt patterns on a 144/170/200/250 valve cover (3 bolts along one edge, two bolts along the other) you'll see there's no way to install it backwards. You must have a later model year cover or one out of a van where they put the oil fill hole at the rear for easier access via the removable engine cover.

Mines located in the front also! But I do have a late 70's valve cover.......:D :D

I believe around 1970 Ford placed the filler in the rear and the PCV in the front. I had a 200 out of an early Maverick which had that setup. My 72 Grabber with orignal engine also has that type as well.

The Fox bodies and Granada/Monarch/Vesalies had a faster slope on the hood, so it made more space. A post 1973 design change.

My 82 fox body granada with the 200 has the pcv in the front. I replaced the valve cover with a chrome one and im now running breather caps.
