:? Think I just posted in the wrong forum.Want to install a petronix ignition in my '65 stang & understand that I need to make sure the vacuum advance is working properly.Howz that done?Only stupid question's the 1 I don't ask(Keep telling myseld that & maybe I'll believe it) Hank

Remove the distributor cap then remove the vacuum line at the carb. Apply suction tothe line. If the diaphragm is good, the advance will move and hold. After 30+ years, don't bet on it.

I installed a pertronix Ignitor I and Flamethrower Coil in my 200, it made the biggest difference !

Wheres the best (cheapest) place to get the petronix, flamethrower coil, and a set of wires?

I found the set for $170, from dearborn I belive, anywhere better?

You're talking about the origional ignitor, right? VA Classic Mustang has it for $64.95, the coil for 29.95, and the wires for 33.95. So its about $130 there, I haven't seen it for better than that.

Try out www.johnsmustang.com in Houston, Tx, i got my pertronix Ignitor II and the Flamethrower II all for about $120 without shipping, once i get my carb rebuilt, hopefully this weekend, i will be actually able to see what it does but so far it is running better even with the carb flooding the engine, lol.
