Picked up the 200 tonight, now?

Just got the book today and it is so worth the wait.. Ton of great knowledge inside that book. I'll be teaching my daughter the right way with all of yalls help.. Here's a quick question..
So after a detailed inspection of the block I noticed part of the block is broke where it mounts to the exhaust manifold. I figure I can just weld a nut or similar where its broken but I wondered if this is common for the blocks?
Here's a pic

Over the years I have seen a number of heads that had a broken boss on the end like that. Its not a normal thing for this to happen and is more likely caused by people thinking that it's strong enough to use to lift the engine out of the car or maybe from over tightening a manifold bolt. It could be welded up and then re-machined or left as it is by using a nut on back like they did. Good luck

Perfect,.....Tell the wife it is bad...Good excuse to dump the dog log and pick up a late model hi flow head. Make sure you mill it because of the larger chamber.

Bubba is right that head can be fixed....What I like to do is lay a 2"x3/8-16,threaded rod in the broken spot and weld over top of it and then use it like a stud with a nut.

Thankfully I don't have a wife to ask haha that was my thought process but finding one around my neck of the woods is gonna be hard.. Anyone in or near TN wanna sell one to me?

I got no one (wife) to sell
:rolflmao:
