DOES anyone have pictures of a cable throttle setup to a holly 350? I have asked many times but can't seem to get any responses. Please post pictures and what you used for your system. I would like to make have this made into a STICKY. I feel it needs to be.

Please just cable setups. I know there are ways to modifiy the rod system but I don't want to do that.

Here are my pics of my Holley 350 direct mount. The cable is from NAPA for a 1991 Ford F150 pickup with a 300 I6. I had to make the cable brackets myself. There are two pieces here. One is mounted to the valve cover with one leg also mounted under one of the carb mounting bolts. The second piece is adjustable and mounts to the first piece and can be slid side to side to dial in for full throttle. It was a major PITA. I made it out of flat metal stock.

Oh yeah, I had to put an aluminum spacer between the firewall and cable to give me enough pedal travel.

I got a suggestion from a Mustang magazine to buy a 69 pedal but it didn't specify the type of cable. I purchased it but I'm thinking of selling it and getting the Lokar pedal set up but it is awfully expensive.

if you get a V8 pedal it will at least allow you to orient the cable on the driver's side, should be easier to fab up that way

honestly, i'd love to see someone try and tackle this, make a cable and bracket that attaches to the factory pedal and is long enough to route cleanly around and bolt onto the pedal

I totally agree. As many of us as there is in the inline 6 world and even early 65 V8s you would think someone would have come up with a kit. The lokar set is nice but it changes the stock look and cost over 200 when all is said and done. Plus even then you have to guess on what will fit. That might be a good part to this thread is to:

LIST the dimension from the fire wall to a 350/500 Holly???
LIST the dimension of a Tri setup??
LIST the dimension of ??

Any thoughts or information anyone could fill in??

Cobrasix,
Your webpage was one of the first i saw when I started using Ford Six. It is a good one with great pictures. Is your setup still the same? I just wish there was a clean way of having the throttle cable come through the fire wall. Althought, your system seem to work well.

Question - what type of carb are you using? and What is the lenth/ Part number you used for the cable?

Thanks for the post
Steve

Anyone ever try one of these? The kit comes with everything needed to convert the stock linkage to a cable. It mounts to the firewall and allows you to keep the stock pedal. Looks pretty easy?

if you have a link, i would probably buy that right now as honestly i'm more than frustrated with what i have in there right now

Steve,

The set up is still the same and I've extremely happy with it. Stock look on the inside (looks just like the normal pedal) and clean look on the outside. No worries about fire wall penetrations since the V-8 pedal goes right into the I-6 spot and uses the same hole. Only difference is the bracket is oriented different and just requires to put in 3 sheet metal screws where there are already dimples on the firewall (at least mine had them).

I'm used a Holley 4V 390CFM vacuum secondary carb. I forget the model number off the top of my head.

For the cable, I believe I used the 36" version, but I did have to trim it some. the 36" cable should be long enough for routing for any type of applications, Offy, Oz250, AL, 2V log, and stock.

I bought mine from a local parts house.

Only down side was return spring locations. I'm not happy with where mine are, but mostly for appearance reasons, they function perfectly. When I replace the clutch pedal I may place a return spring on the pedal under the dash versus in the engine bay.

Mike, the kit looks easy, but what's the price. Looks like it would probably run about the same as buying a V-8 pedal and standard cable conversion kit.

Mike,
Were is the link for the kit you show. Please share, is it on your site??? this looks like it could be an excellent solution.

Steve

OK guy's, these processes used above will ALSO work with a Webber carb I suppose? I don't see why not. I like the short V-8 pedal setup withe the Lokar after that for less flex and more options on mounting places.

Thanks for htis post guy's!

Azstang66,
What cable did you use?

Still looking for this info if anyone knows :

LIST the dimension from the fire wall to a 350/500 Holly???

Hoping mike will send us the link for his earlier post

Dayam AZStang! Where did you get 7 inch THICK plug wires, an do they perform better than all the rest or is it just bling for the ride?

I stumbled on that kit about three years ago, but don't remember where. I did a search last night, for a couple hours, but couldn't find it again. I'll keep looking.
