Mufflers, Cams, Carbs.... it's all this same. The same in that there isn't any ONE of anything that is gonna be just what everyone is looking for. As for myself everything I've heard about the Vaporizer is good!! It sounds perfect for my situation, I'm in the body work, paint and upholstery phase now and a engine rebuild with power mods could be years away. So until then I'm stock under the hood so the Vaporizer is a dream come true......I'm just a payday or two away from getting one. However if anyone out there ever does do a tri power with three Vaporizers I would love to hear about the results.

I dealt with John at Pony Carbs over the phone; he claimed all my problems with my car was EVERYTHING else except the Pony carb. I finally tossed it, put back the rebuilt 1940 carb and the car ran great. Too bad other suckers will give him their hard earned $ for his lousy service, rotten attitude and products he refuses to back.

LaGrasta, yes it would take a long time to recoupe the $'s spent, but you would have more power & i'm sure the driveability is far superior to the old 1100.
Plus its brand new, no worn parts.

Yes more power is always good! I'm not currently running a 1100, but a 1940 that is really an excellent carb: dependable, fairly smooth, and a lot of cfm for a 1 barrel. I'm very pleased with it. I'm only considering anything new to save gas. As my car is a daily driver, any upgrade that saves fuel will eventually pay for itself.

I'm still curious to know how this carb runs. I see that the carb is currently out of stock on classicinlines.com, so a few people here are hopefully using it.

I had one for awhile that I picked up. Is it better than the stock 1100? Yes. Is it worth the money? Not sure. I got mine second hand with about 500 miles on it super cheap. That being said, I wouldn't have given it up for anything once i had it.
So, if you want to keep a stock 1V look, but with better overall performance (acceleration, idle, etc), then it is a nice carb.

The Vaporizers are currently out of stock, because Pony Carbs is no longer making them. At least not until they find a good supplier for the carb bodies. Not only were the shipments being delayed on a regular basis, the quality of the castings was so bad, they commonly had a 60 percent drop out. In other words, 6 out of 10 casting had to be sent back to be melted down and recast. As such, they kept running out of carb bodies, which prevented them from filling orders in a timely fashion. There were a few times when we waited 12 weeks or more, to get an order filled. Not good..... As such, they are currently looking for a new foundry. They think it will be several months before they start producing them again, but I'll let you know when they do.
I've had several customers tell me they are very please with the results. Not only are they getting a noticeable increase in power, they are getting better mileage as well.

I purchased a Vaporizer carb a few weeks ago, to use for the dyno sessions we'll be doing in a month or two. Once I'm finished with it (one or two pulls) I'd be happy to sell it to you, so you can try it out. If your not 100% satisfied with the results, you can send it back for a full refund. Well since I've had one since 2009 I really love it, I recently had it sent back to pony carbs and they rebuilt it free, came back and is just as amazing.
they're CS has really imporved, and that line is given all the time "talk to mike at classic inlines"
but for the carb.
before I was getting roughly 14city and 13hwy, I was using a 1946 carb.
now with the 1100v
I'm avg 19.5 city and 25 hwy,
I have dyno'd the stock engine twice, yet to do the new rebuilt, 1st stock dyno with my auot got 68hp, with a manual it reached 72hp.
Drivability has ALWAYS been spot on, it has always been reliable, even when I had the throtle shaft go to the scrappers. it still ran.
I had gained quite a noticable difference when i started changing the jet, yes only one. I went from 3900 max rpm to 5500 rpm just by giving it more gas. I bet she can hanle more very safely I just don't have any bigger jet than 65.
In the long run, I'm very glad I got the pony carb, IF i didn't I would have converted over to a 2bbl and possible TBI kit, cause I'm lazy. but I'm not going to anytime soon as i'm very happy with it.
