OK got this hopped up 200 with a T-5- when i was still messing around getting things adjusted properly it would occasionally show astounding power and revability. Got her settled in and it runs great, real good power --just not what it was exhibiting on those odd occasions early on when i was fiddling around trying to get everything compatible.
Yesterday on the way to work the throttle cable gave it up--throttle set-up is a POS summit 1 size fits all thing that has always been a pain. Well i cranked the idle screw to 2100 rpm and made the last 4 miles to work-stopped at the NAPA on the way and ordered a cable from a cat. picture and it came in at 3:00, got it on (with nothing but a leatherman tool). well apparently the old cable had been losing a strand at a time and streeetttcchhing cause all of a sudden i got 50-75 more HP than i did the day before. 6000rpm is RIGHT NOW. I have owned many SBF and SMC v-8's in my life and a stock one would not touch this little 200.
Morale of this story? never give up before the miracle happens! and watch the little things.
I bet i have not had the carbs opened all the way in 2000 miles.
