Greetings,
I have a 1965 Mustang Coupe and plan to install a 200 engine from a 1978 Fairmont. Can anyone tell me what motor mounts I should use? I've seen motor mounts advertised for different years of 200 engines and would not have thought that there would be that much change.

Additionally, I have seen alternator brackets advertised for specific years. Would the brackets from an early six Mustang work on a 1978 200 engine?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Steve

My experience with the 200 is to get the motor mounts that match your car and the brackets that match your engine or alternator and accessory pkg you are useing.. I recently bought motor mounts at O,Riely's to put a 78 200 in a 62 falcon.stock # right there in their catalogue with pictures. they had to be ordered and cost almost $30/pair and took 6 hours for them to arrive.LOL. It's good to take your existing mounts with you as some years list more than 1 style of motor mounts.

confed,

The alternator bracket from your original engine should fit the newer block just fine. As far as the motor mounts go, I ordered Corteco mounts from Mike at FSPP. I also have a 65 Mustang and am installing a 200 from a 78 Fairmont.

Here's the link to the mounts I ordered. Left and Right side.

I installed a 78 200 from either a Granada or Fairmont (dont remember which) in my 66 Stang. I used the motor mounts for a 66 and used the 66 alternator brackets and harmonic balancer/pulleys/water pump also.

You have to use the 66 oil pan & pickup tube too. Also the dipstick is probably in the back of the motor and you have to relocate it to the front.

No biggie!

Later,

Doug
