looks like i will be expediting my head job. slight green juice running down the side of the block next to the distributor approx at #'s 3 and 4 .
i have a NOS adjustable rocker shaft assy. any ideas where to a new set of pushrod's. i saw the moly pushrods from fordsix(both oiling and non-oiling). i dont know which ones i would need. oiling or non oiling. it is a stock 68 200.
any ideas on the best place to get the stock ford pushrods( set of 12 to be used with the adjustable rockers)

Thanks frankie

i bought a whole new rocker arm set and the pushrods (sold seperatiely) from PAW.

the set of rods was 18 bucks the rocker arm set was something like 150

CONTACT MIKE AT FSPP. YOU NEED THE NON OILING TYPE.
he goes under az coupe or www.fordsix.com.
HOPE THIS HELPS. WILLIAM WSA111 :D

Don't open it up for a coolant dribble, unless it sprays when hot, or compression tests suspicious in that area of the block. Check your head bolt torques in situ. Weeping on the plug side is quite common.

yeah i hate to tear into to it. but i know its a descent motor. i got 150 psi on all cylinders and it doesnt smoke or use oil. and i got good oil pressure now that i replaced the oil pump and rod brgs. the small water usage isnt realy that big of a problem sinc eit isnt overheating. but there is some water glycon going into the oil. i see the telltale white residue in the rocker cover. and i am itching to get the hardened valve seats in there too.
by the way i had never used the rubber valve cover gasket before. i permatex2B'd it to the cover. it does leak and it doesnt stick to the head.
i did change back to a 10 lb cap and that helps.

my new head has the hardened seats and the small chambers. i checked the two end chambers at 52cc each. it is a 67 head by the numbers.
the top of the block deck was messed up as original. the machining on the deck showed heavy tool chatter in the pushrod area near cylinders 3,4.
when i laid a file down on the block ther were 4 or 5 ridges about .015 high, and i could actually feel them. i used the fine file to shave these peaks off, laying the file down flat. the file only removed material from a half dozen high spots. thus is exactly where it had leaked.
PAW told me two weeks on pushrods. i ordered from them since they were here local. i called after two weeks and they told me two more weeks! fortunately i had scrounged 16 odd early pushrods out of old falcon hulks at the boneyard. so i was able to get the engine back together and running with my NOS adjustable rocker setup. i reordered pushrods now from fordsix which is where i should have gone in the first place.
i used the new ARP headbolts and moly-lube, retapped all the holes, and torqued in three stages. i used the victor gasket with permatex2 around the water/oil openings. i had obtained two OEM steel headgaskets, but i feared they wouldnt seal properly with the old deck surface and will save them for future projects.
i have been pounding on he falcon for about 6 weeks to get it working smoothly on the 50 mile commute. i want to add the pertronix and 40k coil to see if i can pull 25mpg.
but i am itching to work on the 40 now. i just got the glass in the cab so it is roadworthy (sans fenders and bed.) i just need to reroute temporary wiring harness to the dash.
