Putting quench in a flattop piston?

" I'm pretty sure it's out of print, btw." I assumed so too, until I saw Amazon listing it for sale as "new". I guess its such a good text that its still in print.Hope someone can use that link, to download a copy. My puter won't handle it, but if it were on a DISC, I think I could view it, o.k.I can't even search E-bay with this thing; It freezes up; TMI!Gonna have to break down and buy a real one, one of these days!

I downloaded it and now it says that Safari can't open it. Bleah. I'm sure there's a way but I am so computer ignorant. Bleah.

I tried to download it, too. Got past the 2 or 3 attempts to get me to sign up for the 'premium' service.First attempt, was going to take 5 hrs. 43 min. to download. Remembered I had a 'Thumbdrive', (never used before), so, I 'installed' that, and downloaded it to that. Took 1 1/2 hrs, then right at the end, said either I lost my connection, or need to change my settings.Wonder if this is just a scam, to get ya to pay for the 'Premium' service?I'm going to check out my settings, and keep trying.I see they do offer "free" technical support, if you sign up for the 'Premium" service.Wonder if its a toll free #. I know my internet provider's tech support, they charge for calls.Anyway, figure its worth the effort, If I can make it work. I know I really need a 'Primer', on how all this stuff works, and sounds like this book is da place.Yeah, I'm almost computer illiterate, too.(Whats Safari?) Need to find a 10 year old, to walk ya thru it.Kids are much more knowledgeable about this stuff. If I manage to get it to work, I'll PM ya.

Just read the thread in the HARD forum, modifying head/intake ports, also devolves to a discussion of Sir Harry's book, as well as book by David Vizard. Wonder if we could scour the membership, for someone who is computer savvy, to see if there is a way to create a "Library" section, and put some of these reference books in it? Would we run into copyright problems? If you can download it, why couldn't we put it in a forum? Just a thought,.....

The Ricardo book is passed the Copyright timeframe of 50yrs, IIRC. Last printed in the early 40s.

I think the copy of Ricardo that Divco man found is in .rar format so it's 'zipped'. You may need a program to 'unzip' it. That's the extent of my knowledge, sorry, you'll have to check wiki for info on .rar files if it is one.

Just because something is available for download, doesn't mean it's a legal download though.

Was talking to a friend of mine, who's computer literate. He suggested using the libraries computers, which have a high speed connection, to download the book into a thumb drive. I'm gonna e-mail him the link, I'll let you know if it works.
