Quickie: 200 vs. 250 difference in a rebuild kit

Hi, just a fast check to be sure:

What are the differences between 200 and 250 master engine rebuild kits?

Master kit: pistons, rings, cam, lifters, all bearings, gasket set, freeze plugs, timing set.

I figure out the difference is timing set (just the chain?) and water pump gasket in the gasket set. Did I miss out something?

Thanks.

Bearings (mains) are different, too IIRC. Generic part numbers are 3761 (except thrust) and 3762 (thrust set) but someone else should confirm that. Timing cover, front oil seal, rear oil seals, damper are different. Diameter at front of crank is fatter so small sprocket is different (as inside of balancer, too). This has been the reason for no 9-keyway timing sets yet. Oil pan gaskets vary.

At least in Australia, it was nearly a blind guess as to which cam bearing set your motor was machined for. Four or five variations exist.

I pretty much know the basic differences of course but I read the shop manual in a hurry and that bearing thing got unnoticed. The info is there.

Oil pan gasket - of course. Dampner does not affect on a rebuild kit but seals do.

Thanks, this helped me out of my issue.

Pistons *might* be different too. I think the 250 have a longer distance from the centerline of the wrist pin to the top. But please check to make sure.
