OK, I'm mad at myself for not documenting things a bit better. It doesn't help that I tore the engine down about 4 months ago and had to wait to get the block back from the machine shop. I'm pretty much rebuilding the engine with stock components at this point.
Most of the engine rebuild has been coming along smoothly with the help of the factory service manual. However, I'm having cold feet about the finishing touches and haven't found found some of the details in the factory manual so far. Without wasting any more time, I thought I'd ask on here because you guys always seem to know right off the tops of your heads.
Here goes:
1) The vacuum advance line comes off of the distributor and goes to the bottom of the stock carb, correct? I'm going to order a new preformed vacuum line but wanted to make sure I didnt' need any special parts/connectors. I guess in addition to the steel line (which hopefully will have the threaded coupler on one end) I'll need a short length of rubber vacuum hose and clamps to connect the advance unit and the steel line, correct?
2) Where exactly does the vacuum line line from the tranmission (C4 auto) connect into the system? It looks like a vacuum line coming up to the engine, anyway.
3) There is tapped hole on the side of the intake manifold log about an inch or two down from the carb seat. I have the 90 degree brass coupler that threads into the hole. Where does that connect into the system and what do I need to get to make the connection? Are there preformed lines for this that can be purchased or do I need to make my own?
4) Finally, what size freeze plug needs installed in the "breather" hole above the oil filter on the side of the block? I have a pcv valve into the valve cover, so I understand that pcv takes the place of this "road hose" breather as it was called by the guys at CJPonyParts. The freeze plug was removed by the machine shop guys prior to tanking and machining the block. I now need to fill this hole again, but am not sure of the size of the needed plug. It has a pretty sharp 45 degree beveled angle on the hole so I'm not sure where to measure for a freeze plug size.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to read and answer all my "newbie" questions.
