I paid $150 plus saddles here for the diff welding, no cutting. For that price, I supplied all specs and a stripped down housing with carrier caps.
Axles needed more fun and games. The splines are heat treated, so this has to be undone, then redone, also re-shotpeened after.
If you are using older wheels then the axle flange centre boss needs to be be reduced to pre-XC diameter. I also faced off the ends of this boss to give more of a billet axle look.
For peace of mind fit new, long studs and open ended wheel nuts. For some unknown reason the diff place gave me these studs free (are they defective? did I look broke?).
You can use 25-spline axles but you'll need the 2-piece side gears from an earlier locker.
Installation of a new centre and setup lash etc is about $150 plus any parts. That's a cash price.
If you are fussy about detail, be warned that diff shops tend to scratch and grind stuff unintentionally - maybe build a cradle and pad it with leather scrap. If you
don't want them to paint it after the work, make a big note and tape it to the housing. They'll probably still paint it...
