Should I or shouldn't I

Hey all,
I know my motor can solidly tach 6 grand. My dad's done it in the garage before. I know it can do a burnout because yet again, my dad has done it. He's been pushing my car to the edge because if it breaks, he wants it to happen when he's doing something, not me. In addition, I baby the motor somewhat. I have my redline set at about 5800RPM but the highest I've taken it is 4100 which was one time, all other times I don't take the motor above 4 grand. I know it still has room to go and it almost seems to me that it wants to go more but I'm a little bit hesistant as the motor only has about 1700 on since rebuild. Should I push it a little more?

As long as the motor was built to handle a certian rpm it is fine to take it there, i believe a proper break in period is about 500-1000 miles...i understand why your hesistant though i was the same way, i built my motor to handle 6000rpm and i wouldnt take it past 3000 but eventually my buddy got me to hold it in gear up to 5500 and wow that thing screams...id say your safe to do it

mine doesnt seem to go anywhere fast past 5500 in 1st gear (at about 55mph) I usually shift at about 5100 if Im in a hurry and it could go a bit more if needed... revving itll jump past 6 grand so I learned I had to watch the tach... scared me a bit to look down and woah... I say just use your best judgement...

I wouldn't do it every day, but if the situation arises that needs it, don't worry about it.

I have my rev limiter set at 5000RPM but rarely take it above 3500. Just no need.
