The throttle shafts wear out real easy and very sensitive to vacuum leaks, which the throttle shafts were a huge contributor. Somebody used to repair them by machining nylon bushing that were easily replaced. I ran them on my 72 & 73 Triumph GT6 and a 73 TR6 and my dad had them on his XKE.
Did I mention that they were sensitive to vacuum leaks?!
I used to run that Spitfire up your way while stationed at Travis AFB in the late 80s. Wonder if you ever saw it around. Took it to the city a lot. One of my favorite rides was carving my way down to Stenson Beach.
I also used to own a 63 Ranchero while in the early 90s with hair-on black and white cowhide interior. Have you ever seen that one around?
