Ha! You must be one of the only Americans who knows what a bakkie is.

"Lekker bakkie, man." 8)

The Aussie motors were fitted in 1970s F-series Down Under, to comply with "local content" legislation. It meant the vehicle was less aggressively taxed than if it was above a content percentage threshold.

A cracker was the Stromberg single downdraught carbs that said "Sidney" on the side. NOT "Sydney". Where were they really made? I've no idea, even today.

Cheers, Adam.

that's way too funny!

Hey dualcarbwagon, here's the scoop.

I first used the 200 Stang mounts on the 250 which placed the motor too high in the engine compartment. So I got a set of mounts for a 250 in a 1970 Maverick and they worked alot better, they lowered the motor to where the oilpan sat 1/8" away from the swaybar.

K-member - it's the original one - no modification necessary.

Oil pump pickup tube - more work involved there. Use the 250 pump but cut the mounting flange off the 250 pickup tube. Now get the 200 pickup tube and mount the 250's pickup tube flange over the end of the 200's tube that goes into the pump & weld the flange to the tube.

Yes, the 250's bellhousing pattern is the same as a V-8.

I will be doing a T-5 swap in the future.
I have the tranny, pedal setup, clutch and a V-8 flywheel that needs neutral balacing.

Yes the picture of my car you see there, it's still wearing the original paint.
My father bought that car brand new (I now own it) I was 15 years old at the time when I went with him to pick it up from the dealership - I still remember that day.

That picture is a few years old and she's startin to show her age - I did put the set of 10 holes on her. I plan for a full body & paint on her.

yea addo---ive always had a weak spot for subaru brats (gumbies down under) and thats what started the whole thing---a search to see if new ones exist, because the american baja is a cheezy third rate copy of the original. way to heavy with way too much overhang and 4 doors. i still dont know if newer ones exist but i had fun looking. however you threw me with lekker bakkie---what does lekker mean?
anlushac---i think youre on the right track, and correct me if im wrong guys, but generally arent they unit bodies like the utes?
jt thanks for the info. 1/8th inch is sorta tight, but you never can tell about me---i may do anything. i had even at some point considered a mazda rotory(early one) swap---but the bottom line was that i simply couldnt turn my back on the beloved inlines that have served me SOOOO well for so many years :D i have had 3 zephyrs, 2 fairmonts and one maverick. every one of them has had over 250,000(not a typo) miles on them---and i have yet to ever be left on the side of the road (take that sb chevy guys lmao)(friendly razzin). id love to see more recent pics of your ride too brutha---keep up the good work.
