OK, I'm gettin' quite the smoke show from the tail pipe. I've rebuilt the carb, replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, condensore, and points. I've got fresh oil. Fuel filter is new. It's a bit bluish, a bit blachish, a bit of everything.
Like it's burning something other then gas.
I except it'll burn a little oil.
Anyhow, I put gas in the tank, added some STP fuel treatment (which I think is the root of all evil here) and added some lead substitue.
What I'm wondering is, would the STP gas treatment make the lead substitute less, or not effective at all, causing the car to burn unleaded gasoline, making a fair amount of smoke?
It didn't smoke this much before any gas was added.
Also, does anyone know the correct point gap (dwell) for this engine? I tracked down some outdated information, but I have no idea if it's right.
It's a 1964 Custom, running a 223,
Thanks!
Any input is great input!
Oh, and if anyone knows about tuning these engines up to spec, I need all the info (specs, what have you) I can find, info is hard to find for this car.
